Why does PeakPure Home only quote whole houses?
Because a two-window job carries the same setup, the same permit, and the same containment work as a twelve-window job — spread across a sixth of the openings. Quoting that honestly makes it look expensive, and quoting it cheaply means making the difference back somewhere you cannot see. So PeakPure Home does not quote it.

What does the window quote actually ask?
Only what the price genuinely turns on: the type, size and floor of each opening, plus five facts about the house itself. Nothing else — no name is required to see the number.
Type, per opening
Double-hung, slider, casement, picture, bay or bow, or a sliding patio door. These are different products, not different sizes of the same product.
Width and height, per opening
Added together these give united inches, which is how the industry sizes a window. A bigger opening is a bigger unit, more glass and more labor — and past a certain size it needs measuring rather than estimating. Bay and bow windows and patio doors skip this entirely: they are already sized products, so the tool does not ask.
Floor, and whether it is being resized
A second-story opening needs access equipment the ground floor does not. An opening cut larger or cut for egress is a structural change, and it is what pulls the building permit.
Year built and exterior, for the house
The year decides whether the pre-1978 rule below applies. The exterior decides whether stucco has to be cut back and patched — and that only happens on a full-frame job, so an insert install is never charged for it.

My house was built before 1978 — does that change the job?
Yes, and the quote says so out loud. EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting rule applies to window replacement in housing built before 1978, and the containment it requires is real work with a real cost — plastic, sealing, controlled removal, controlled cleanup, per opening.
Most quotes fold that into the unit price, which is why two quotes on the same house can be far apart with no visible reason. Ours names it as its own line, per opening, so you can see it. If your house was built in 1978 or later, the line does not appear at all.
Is the online number the real number?
It is the top of it. Every quote this tool produces is deliberately the high end of the plausible range, and your final price will not exceed it without your approval.
That is the only way publishing a price is safe for either side. A number that drifts upward after a signature is how this trade earns its reputation; a number that comes in under the one you already accepted is the outcome we are aiming at.

What does united inches mean?
The width of an opening plus its height. It is how the industry sizes a window, and it is what the quote uses to work out which size band an opening falls into. Anything past the largest band comes back flagged for a measure rather than priced from a guess. Bay and bow windows and patio doors are already sized products, so their dimensions do not change the price at all.
Do I need a building permit?
Only if an opening is being resized — made larger, made smaller, or cut for egress. A like-for-like replacement in the existing opening does not pull one. The quote adds the permit line only when you tell it an opening is changing size.
What is the difference between a full-frame replacement and an insert?
An insert fits a new window inside the existing frame. A full-frame replacement takes the frame out down to the rough opening, which is the honest answer when the frame itself has failed. In the quote it is a whole-house choice rather than a per-window one — a house gets one or the other. On a stucco house, full-frame is also what makes the stucco cut-back line appear — an insert does not cut stucco, so it is not charged for.
